DETENTION HALL: 70 Years of Poor Conduct - Rawlins Gilliland returns to the Kessler Theater with all new material after back to back SRO shows throughout 2014. This latest collection of true story ‘tawdry admission’ memoirs combines his signature ‘verbal cinematography’ with live interactive soundtrack by musical director Thiago X. Nascimento. Rawlins says this latest PG17 ‘risqué romp’, pegged to his 70th birthday weekend, features improbable tales only now shared because ‘I’ve lived long enough to have statute of limitation amnesty’.
18 April 2015 - The Kessler Theater (sold out, SRO)
Happy Murder Stories - Rawlins Gilliland goes Edgar Allen Poet telling his favorite terrifying true tales of suspense, intrigue & death-edge mishaps. In this adult campfire ghost story / Halloween frame-of-mind romp, he downplays the gruesome (he knows that turf too, as those who saw his recent shows know) sharing scary saga adventures where an absurdly taken risk put his life in jeopardy OR 'assorted ill-mannered assailant bores tried to kill me but picky, picky’. Each Gothic, tense, madcap or eerie episode ends pleasantly enough, as proven by the man himself being onstage to make us scream! Musical accompaniment for Happy Murder Stories by madman maestro Thiago X. Nascimento.
18 October 2014 - The Kessler Theater (sold out, SRO)
Rated [R]awlins - Rawlins’ autobiographical ‘verbal memoirs’ are evocative, scary & funny tales of his unlikely early life told in his unique voice. He tells these stories accompanied by a jazz trio onstage under the musical direction of Matt Tolentino. Rated [R]awlins features everything from an early childhood celeb-laden cocktail party in his artist family home to a late teen murder trial, global airline stowaway adventures and ribald stints in California nude communes and Istanbul brothels.
31 July 2014 - The Kessler Theater (sold out, SRO)
8 May 2014 - Sons of Hermann Hall (sold out, SRO)
